Arc I: Blood in the Water

Many, many years ago in the Cavern of Souls, Waterfur, the deputy of RoseClan, was murdered in cold blood by her mate Sweetfern, who wanted her political power for herself. Waterfur was a good and kind cat who was supposed to have gone to StarClan, but due to the Cavern of Souls' thin veil between the physical world and StarClan and the Place of No Stars alike, she was dragged into the latter. Betrayed by her love and stuck in a hellish world she wasn't meant to reside in, Waterfur slowly went insane, her consciousness worn down to solely the anger, sadness, and fear she felt in her very last moments.

Years later, RoseClan was ravaged by a plague, killing almost every member in mere moons and leaving only Hornetpaw and Marshkit alive. In her dying words, healer Weedwhisker urged them to travel to the Cavern of Souls, citing the closeness to StarClan that may protect them from any future plagues. However, the Cavern of Souls, once a peaceful place, is now haunted by Waterfur's unthinking ghost, able to worm its way into the back of cats' heads and impart upon them the sheer agony her selfhood has become. As they grow up, Hornetpaw and Marshkit must grapple with the danger that faces their clan.

Sweetfern's Destiny
I'm currently working on a (hopefully) novella-length prequel fic titled Sweetfern's Destiny. Assured of her future leadership by her parents and not discouraged by the praise of her clanmates, Sweetfern becomes obsessed with the concept of the reign she'll one day have, stopping at nothing to make sure she can have the power that was promised to her. I'll link it on AO3 once it's being published, but it's coming along pretty slowly, ha.
